Associated with a rainwater-collecting unit, which comprises collecting vessel 14 and a deck 2 arranged over the vessel to seal off the mouth thereof and shaped for draining rainwater falling thereon into the vessel through one or more orifices in the deck, is means for buoyantly supporting the unit. The deck may be formed of thin plastics material and the or each orifice may be provided with a non-return valve 12. The buoyancy means may be a flotation collar 5 fitted about a rigid vessel or may be an inflatable ring or superposed rings, the ring or rings forming the sides of the vessel, the bottom of which is a thin plastics sheet secured to the bottom of the ring or the lowest ring. Another form of the vessel has a rigid annular side wall joined to a rigid circular bottom by a flexible, annular skirt. Each unit may be supported in a frame 9, which prevents grounding of the unit when it is not buoyantly supported.</p> |
