Ammonia synthesis catalytic reactor

Ammonia or methanol are catalytically synthesised in a vertical, cylindrical reaction column. This column is designed for high pressure, exothermic gas reactions. A spirally wound, gastight spiral baffle is joined to the reactor chamber roof and bottom. This spiral baffle is connected to the central perforated tube of the reactor and the spiral baffle holds the catalyst and the synthesis gas passes from the reactor centre laterally through the spiral to the chamber periphery.
