[Also in Division C2] A cough syrup comprises glycerin and a novel piperidine derivative of the formula wherein R 1 is C 1-9 alkyl; phenylalkyl having at most 10 carbons, the phenyl moiety being optionally substituted by nitro, amino, halogen up to atomic number 35, one or two C 1-2 alkoxy or 3,4-methylenedioxy and wherein the phenyl moiety may be bound to the alkyl moiety either directly or via oxygen, carbonyl, hydroxymethylene, imino, alkanoyloxymethylene having up to 4 carbon atoms or alkanoylimino having up to 3 carbon atoms; or cinnamyl, R 2 is C 1-2 alkyl and R 3 is H or CH 3 or its pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts.
