A pharmaceutical preparation suitable for resorption through the mucous membranes of the mouth or nose comprises an adreno-corticotropically active peptide in the form of a non-aqueous suspension or solution comprising a suspending agent or solvent selected from; monoesters of C 2-3 alkanols or sorbitan polyoxyethylene glycols with C 8-22 fatty acids, diesters of polyoxyethyleneglycols and triesters of glycerol, with fatty acids having 8-22 carbon atoms and 8-12 carbon atoms respectively, or mixtures thereof. The active compound may be a natural corticotrophin or a synthetic peptide having a shorter amino acid chain which may be varied insofar as individual amino acids are concerned. Numerous examples of the synthetic peptides are given. Preferred forms are nasal sprays and self-propelled aerosol compositions.
