At least 2 metals are joined by casting at least the contact areas of 1 piece (I) whose melting temp. is >= that of the other (receiver) piece (II) to produce superficial melting of parts of (II) and formation of an alloy of the molten parts of (I) and (II). The method is partic used for joining electrical conductors having large conductive areas.
