Dyeing spindle for coils of thread or yarn on spools to be inserted in a dyeing apparatus has a cylindrical or angular body surrounded by axially parallel, arcuate segments which are pressed radially outwards by spring elements. This constitutes an adequate guide for the spools to be pushed onto it and is compressible while preventing cucumber-type deformation of the spools.
