Cerami like article prodn - from low-sintering clay sand or magma rocks and calcium sulphate or its dihydrate

Articles having high strength, hardness, density and corrosion resistance are produced from a mixture of 10-40 pts. wt. of a low sintering clay, 20-50 pts.wt. of sand or alkali-contg. magma rocks, and 30-60 pts.wt. of CaSO4 or its dihydrate. The compsn. is moulded and fired at 1100-1200 degrees C. The SO2 liberated during the firing can be utilised in the prodn of H2SO4.
