Integral quench furnace - with internal transfer mechanism

Within the quenching zone of the furnace is located a vertically ring carriage which descends into the quench bath, and upon which is mounted a forked trolley that can, when the carriage is in its uppermost posn. by advanced horizontally into the heating zone to withdraw the charge. Pref. the trolley is so arranged that only the forks actually enter the heating zone, while the carriage and trolley are driven hydraulically, the latter movably with controlled acceleration and deceleration. Movement of the trolley towards the zone is guided by alignment plates on the carriage.
