5-Methylthiomethyl-pyridines having electro-encephalogram-modifying and anti-lipidic activity of the formula WHEREIN R1 is OH and R2 is -CHO or -CH2NR3R4 in which R3 and R4 are H or lower-alkyl or, collectively a methylene chain containing 4 or 5 carbon atoms, or R1 and R2 collectively are a group of the formula -O-CR5R6-O-CHOH- in which R5 and R6 have the same values as R3 and R4 or, when R6 is H, R5 can be also an unsubstituted or substituted phenyl group.
