<p>1411791 Door fastenings BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORP LTD 26 July 1973 [3 Aug 1972] 36197/72 Heading E2A One, or as shown, two space-craft doors 3, 4 which, are subject to thermal distortion from solar irradiation 18, are secured in their closed position by fastenings 11 which are alternately disposed on the two doors (or on the door and its jamb) and which are each operated when an associated sensor indicates that the doors are in their closed, or almost closed, position. The fastening comprises rollers at 37 on one door gripped between a keeper 25 and a hookshaped bolt 23 pivoted at 24 under hydraulic actuation from jacks 27, 28 through overcentre linkwork 29, 31, 32. The sensor 44a, Fig 7, which initiates operation of the fastening jacks, is operated by a lever 44 engaging a ramp 42 on the other door. The operation of one fastening will force the doors sufficiently close together to overcome their distortion and allow the other to operate.</p> |
