1412082 Gas scrubber METALLGESELLSCHAFT AG 14 May 1973 [19 May 1972] 22917/73 Heading B1R A single- or multi-stage gas scrubber comprises an upright container 1, an inlet 2 for gases to be scrubbed, an outlet 3 for scrubbed gases, intermediate floors 4a, 4b, one for each stage, having central openings 7a, 7b, first annular members 8a, and 8c disposed in the openings 7a or 7b respectively and seccond annular members 8b and 8d disposed in the mouths of tub like containers 11 and 17 located beneath the openings 7a and 7b respectively, the annular members defining between them outlet gaps 14a and 14b through which gas and liquid flow radially, and rods 13, 18 driven by motors by which the annular members 8b and 8d may be moved vertically. Thus altering the width of the gaps 14a and 14b. The lower edge of member 8c being provided with recesses to provide a linear relationship between pressure drop across the gap 14b and relative vertical spacing between the members 8c and 8d. The annular members 8b and 8d are in the form of a felly coaxial with the tub-like containers 11 and 17 and having spokes joining the felly to a hub to whch the rods 13, 18 are attached. Nozzles 6a, 6b, and 6c provide scrubbing liquid, some of which is collected in the space defined by a pipe 15 upstanding from floor 4b and the container wall. A hood-like hub 19 having droplet-forming fins 22 and attached to containers 17 provides an annular space 21 through which the gases are dewatered on their way to gas outlet 3.
