1319907 Solid lubricants NIPPON STEEL CORP 30 July 1971 [30 July 1970] 35959/71 Heading C5F Steel sheet is treated with a composition comprising 5-40 wt. per cent of a coupling agent having both hydrophilic and lipophilic groups and 95-60 wt. per cent of a mixture of 90-60 mol per cent of a C 9 + fatty acid and 10-40 mol per cent of an amine. Coupling agents specified include polyoxyethylenes and their ethers and esters, oxyethylene alkylphenol ethers and phosphoric acid esters thereof and alkali metal or amine salts thereof. Amines specified include octylamine, dicyclohexylamine, triethanolamine, diaminopropane, morpholine and imidazole. The fatty acid may be tallow fatty acid, hydrogenated castor oil fatty acid, naphthenic acid, lauric, palmitic, stearic and arachic acids. The composition may be applied as a solution (solvents are specified).
