Protection method for food tins or similar containers involves protection against corrosion by contents of tin. The container is protected by a strip (3) with telescopic characteristics applied to one area of the container which is particularly subjected to some form of chemical reaction. The container is made with a metal collecting seam extending in a longitudinal direction and the protective strips are applied to the interior of the container in such a way that it fully covers the seam area. The thixotropic lacquer is applied to the container seam by pressure through a jet nozzle, being pressed through several openings located close to each other so that the lacquer runs together making a continuous strip.
