PURPOSE:To provide a lubricant which is inexpensive, nontoxic and noncorrosive to metals, has excellent load resistance and wear resistance, and can be used as such or in admixture with other material, containing an adduct obtd. by the reaction of melamine and (iso)cyanuric acid in a specified ration where either one is present in excess. CONSTITUTION:A lubricant contains an adduct obtd. by the reaction of melamine and (iso)cyanuric acid in the presence of either one in an excess amount of 0.02- 0.8mol. This adduct has a strong and sharp peak only at 2theta=27.5-28 deg. according to X-ray diffraction pattern. This adduct can be used in the following way: (A) It can be used per se in the form of a fine powder as a solid lubricant. (B) Small amounts of water, an alcohol, a mineral oil, etc. are added to it to form a paste. (C) It is dispersed in the above liquids. (D) It is kneaded together with a viscous semisolid such as grease or pitch. (E) It is added to an emulsion paint or an oil paint to form a lubricating film. (F) It is compounded with a conventional grease. The adduct and its mixtures exhibits excellent lubricating characteristics under high load, at high temperature, at low temperature and at low speed. |
