For rapid composting of biomasses, where the material passes through a rotting stretch with an air feed, the local temps. of the material are equalised by heat exchange in the successive material sections in the flow direction, with a heat carrier medium which is not directly in contact with the rotting material.Also claimed is an assembly for aerobic rapid composting, with a shrouded rotting stretch fitted with an air feed and exhaust. It has a system to recirculate a heat carrier medium, not directly in contact with the material, for heat exchange in the successive sections in the flow direction.The heat carrier medium is water. The rotting stretch is composed of part stretches which are separate and parallel and/or in succession to each other, such as three successive stretches. The material is mixed through in at least one stretch. The heat carrier medium is heated externally, and heat from the medium is transferred to the air feed, and heat from the exhaust air is also transferred to the air feed. Condensn. droplets are sepd. from the air travelling along material, and the exhaust air is filtered at the end of the rotting stretch. Used filter material is added to the material for rotting.
