SILVER HALIDE CONVENTIONAL COLOR PHOTOGRAPHIC SENSITIVE MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To obtain superior sharpness and image fastness and to save silver by using a coupler having a specified group and producing a compound having a dye moiety having maximum absorption wavelength before shift. CONSTITUTION:This photographic sensitive material contains a coupler having a dye moiety whose maximum absorption wavelength has been shifted to the shorter wavelength side by a bond which is directly cleaved by a coupling reaction with the oxidized product of a developing agent. The bond may be cleaved through a timing group. The coupler produces a compound (compound A) having a dye moiety having maximum absorption wavelength before the shift as the result of the reaction. The coupler also has a group capable of fixising the hue of the compound A on the longer wavelength side and /or immobilizing the compound A in a photographic layer in the dye moiety. The preferred difference between the maximum absorption wavelengths before and after the shift is >=20nm, especially >=40nm. Superior sharpness and image fastness are obtd. and silver is saved.
