PURPOSE:To easily and efficiently produce a spherical polymer having uniform and arbitrarily controllable particle diameter, by polymerizing a liquid droplet of an unsaturated vinyl monomer in a liquid medium having continuous density gradient. CONSTITUTION:A liquid droplet of an unsaturated vinyl monomer (e.g. styrene, 1-vinylnaphthalene, etc.) is polymerized to obtain the objective spherical polymer. The polymerization is carried out in a liquid medium having a density gradient increasing toward the direction of gravity (e.g. a water-sodium bromide medium having a density of 1.00-1.41g/cm<3>) preferably added with 0.01-5wt% suspension stabilizer such a polyvinyl alcohol usually in the presence of a polymerization initiator such as azobisisobutyronitrile. USE:Useful as a raw material for micro-lens and ion exchange resin, etc.
