PURPOSE:To obtain the titled adhesive suitable for bonding a metal to an NBR with a low- - medium-nitrile content, by dissolving a blend of NBR with a high nitrile content and a novolak type phenolic resin blend in a ketone or aromatic hydrocarbon solvent. CONSTITUTION:An adhesive obtained by dissolving (A) a blend of NBR with a high nitrile content prepared by blending a vulcanizing agent and other ingredients and (B) a novolak phenolic resin blend obtained by blending a curing agent in (C) a solvent consisting of a ketone, aromatic hydrocarbon or a mixture thereof, e.g. mixed solvent of methyl ethyl ketone and toluene, etc. A metal is primed with a phenolic resin solution as a primer and the above-mentioned adhesive is used to complete bonding. The novolak type phenolic resin in an amount of 100-200pts.wt. is preferably blended with 100pts.wt. NBR with a high nitrile content.
