PURPOSE:To improve the effect of surface cleaning and to improve the yield of prepn. of a liquid crystal element to a greater extent by using an ice blasting method to rub respective substrates for sandwiching a liquid crystal layer. CONSTITUTION:A polyimide resin is coated on the soda lime glass substrates 5 formed thereon with thin transparent conductive films and is polymerized by heating to form oriented films thereon. The oriented films are subjected to surface blasting by injecting ice pieces 7 finely broken from ice together with compressed air or high-pressure nitrogen 1 from a nozzle 2 of a suction type injection machine. The injection is executed at 30-40 deg. angle and 10cm/ s-10m/s speed. Sticking of dust by the static electricity generated during the blasting is obviated and the dust, even when stuck to the films, is removed by the ice blocks 7 according to such ice blasting method. The dust is, therefore, exceedingly decreased and the yield of prepn. is improved to a greater extent. |
