<p>PURPOSE:To improve the yield of product as well as the productivity in a rolling line by eliminating the following correcting stage, by calculating and controlling a tension value at the inlet or outlet side of a mill in accordance with the generating degree of herringbone detected at the outlet side of the mill. CONSTITUTION:A herringbone detector 10 provided to the outlet side of a mill, detects a herringbone generated in the surface of a stock 1. A computing unit 11 fetches a detection signal of detector 10, to calculate and output an increment of outlet-side tension, to be provided to the stock 1 when the herringbone generates too much. A computing unit 12 outputs a new outlet-side tension value obtained by adding the increment to a present outlet-side tension value acting on the stock 1, measured by a tension meter 13 provided to the outlet side of the mill. As the sheet thickness of stock 1 decreases when the outlet-side tension increases too much, the inlet-side tension is controlled at the same time. In this way, the generation of herringbone is effectively prevented, and the yield of product is improved.</p> |
