A sewing machine incorporates an accessory container, which consists of a container section located above the machine base plate. The container section is adapted to the outline of the sewing machine housing and incorporates means for a detachable fastening of the container on the base plate. The means consists of at least one holding cam , which projects over the bottom downwards and is aligned towards the base plate. The holding cam is held engaged in a recess located laterally on the wall of the base plate. Specifically the container features an extension extending along a lateral longitudinal wall over the bottom. One or several holding cams aligned inwards are located on the extension. The cam features a nose at least one one side. The nose can snap into a dent inside the recess. The dent can be formed by through a spring fastened on the base plate. ADVANTAGE - The container is easy to handle and can be fastened on the machine with no major alterations. It is simple and cheap to manufacture.
