摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To send detailed image information for an area which can be recognized by an addressee in detail and to minimize image information content to be transmitted as a whole by changing a method for coding image information according to whether the image information exists in the inside of an observing point peripheral area or the outside of the observing point peripheral area. CONSTITUTION:An observing point P observed by the addressee and an observing point peripheral area A having certain extent from the observing point P are defined on a picture in an observing point detecting circuit 9 from a line of sight direction signal from an eye-ball motion detecting circuit 10 and a line of sight distance signal from a line of sight distance detecting circuit 11. Further, while the image data in the area A are coded in detail and transmitted, the image data in the outside of the area A are not coded or at least coded by reducing the information content of the image data and transmitted. Thus, in an interactive image communication in which one addressee is supposed, the information content to be transmitted can be reduced compared with the information content in a conventional system in which the image data are coded extending over the whole of the image and transmitted.</p>
