<p>PURPOSE:To enhance the damage resistance of a wood golf club head by applying a composition composed mainly of a silicon-denatured synthetic resin to at least the face portion of the club head, and then heating and hardening the composition to provide a coating layer. CONSTITUTION:A club head 1 comprises a core body 4 placed on a sole portion 3 and is covered at its outer peripheral face except the sole portion 3 with fiber-reinforced plastic 5. Urethane paint 6 is applied to the outer peripheral face and a composition composed mainly of a silicon-denatured synthetic resin is applied to the surface of a face portion 2 and then heated and hardened to provide a coating layer 7 of approximately 40 to 50mu thick.</p> |
