One holder arm (16) fits against the face side in the assembled position of the plate to be retained. The holder arm is linked to the U-cross bridge (13), and its sprung pivoting movement runs in a plane parallel to the U-arms (11,12). The U-cross bridge comprises two webs (14,15) connecting the end areas of the two plate-shaped U-arms (11,12) and the holder arm (16) is fitted to one of these webs. The holder arm in the rest state extends out of the plane of the U-cross bridge in the opposite direction to the U-arms. It comprises a flat locating area (17) for fitting onto the plate to be held, and a pivot arm area (18) connecting the locating area to the link point. ADVANTAGE - For retention of plate in U-cross-section clamp which has holder arm linked to U-cross bridge, with sprung pivot movement of holder arm running in plane parallel to U-arms.
