SPIRAL TYPE METALLIC WAVEGUIDE FOR TRANSMITTING LASER BEAM AND LASER CUTTER

PURPOSE: To provide a spiral metallic waveguide which generates laser beams holding optical quality whose reconnection at an exit is satisfactory and which can satisfactorily transfer incident energy at a basic mode or a mode approximated to it. CONSTITUTION: At least the entrance end part (C1 -A) of the 'whispering gallery'-type spiral waveguide 1 has a winding radius increasing toward an end part A from a nominal radius R1 to a maximum radius R2 which is at least twice larger than the nominal radius R1 . The through of an end part (C2 -B) is advantageous that it has an inner radius which gradually increases from a nominal inner radius r1 to a maximum inner radius r2 which is at least twice larger than the nominal inner radius r1 . It can be used for cutting by infrared laser beams, for example.
