PURPOSE:To make a driver predict a travel across an intersection at an early stage and easily, and ensure a safe drive by showing the intersection in the travel direction of a vehicle nearly at the center of a screen, and the travel direction of the vehicle in an upward direction. CONSTITUTION:CPU 56 finds a vehicle position through a vehicle position recognition section 55 on the basis of a current position calculated with a position detecting device 4. The road map data of an area where the current position belongs, is retrieved from the data of a CD drive 8 on the basis of the position so found and a road map scale set through an input processing section 53. The retrieved data is shown on the screen of a display 7 with a north side kept right above, together with a mark showing the current position or the like of the vehicle. On the other hand, the CPU 56 finds an intersection where the vehicle arrives at next as a position corresponding to the current position, from the optimum route information of an optimum route calculation section 57. When the vehicle reaches the approach point of the intersection, the screen of the display 7 is shifted in parallel so as to keep the intersection forward of a travel direction at the center. Also, the screen of the display 7 is rotated, so as to keep the direction of an approach link directed upward. |
