PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording medium capable of executing recording in a smaller area than the cross-sectional area of a beam of light by using a photothermal film reduced in the heat conductivity for only a part irradiated with light at high intensity. CONSTITUTION:In an optical recording medium 1 for writing and reading out information by irradiating the recording layer 4 with a beam B of light, a photothermal film 3 transmitting the beam B and reduced in the heat conductivity for only a part irradiated with the beam B at high intensity is formed at least between the recording layer 4 and the beam incident face 7 of the medium 1. The heat conductivity of the spot irradiated part of the photothermal film is reduced and a small area part of the recording layer corresponding to the irradiated part is kept at a high temp. |
