摘要 PURPOSE:To initialize a reversible thermal recording medium so as to stably show predetermined printing characteristics from the stage immediately after production by heating and quenching the reversible thermal recording medium within mutually different specific temp. ranges before re-heating and re-quenching the same. CONSTITUTION:When a reversible thermal recording medium is heated to a temp. range from transparentizing lower limit temp. T3 to transparentizing upper limit temp. T4 and subsequently cooled to room temp., it becomes transparent. When the reversible thermal recording medium is heated to a temp. range from transparentizing temp. T4 to above tubidity lower limit temp. T5 and subsequently cooled to room temp., it becomes a turbid state. When the recording medium is initialized, at first, the recording medium is unwound from a roll 1 to be heated to a temp. range from turbidity lower limit temp. T5 to heat-resistant temp. T6 in an infrared oven 2. Next, the recording medium is quenched to operation upper limit temp. T1 or lower by a water cooling roll 3 and subsequently re-heated to a temp. range from the transparentizing lower limit temp. T3 to the transparentizing upper limit temp. T4 in a separate infrared oven 4. Thereafter, the recording medium is re-quenched to the operation upper limit temp. T1 or lower by a separate water cooling roll 5.
