PURPOSE:To produce a high-purity 4,4'-BDCA in high yield. CONSTITUTION:4,4'-Diisopropylbiphenyl or its oxidation derivative is oxidized with a molecular oxygen in a solvent containing a <=3C aliphatic monocarboxylic acid in the presence of (a) a cobalt compound and/or a manganese compound, (b) at least one of nickel, cerium, chromium, zirconium and ion compounds and (c) bromine or its compound to produce a 4,4'- biphenyldicarboxylic acid. |
