The stabilising device (1) is for a carton (2) made of folded cardboard etc. It incorporates a longitudinal strut (4) forming part of a beam structure. Each end (5a) of the beam incorporates a clamping or fastening device. There is a first clamping part (7) associated with a second clamping part (8) and a third clamping part (16). These clamping parts form a pattern of ridges and partitions. The stabilising device engages the top of one sidewall and the edge of the top portion of the box.
