Low cost solar installation for treating water, comprises a tent made of a transparent film, which is located over a basin containing the water to be treated. The water evaporates due to sun light, and is caught by the tent and lead away. The condensate drops from the edge of the film into a gulley. The basin preferably has a dark base to improve heat absorption.
