Induction heating crucible for electrically conductive materials

The crucible has a number of vertical thick wall segments, mounted on an insulated base, through which cooling water may be circulated and which have slots running from the lower edge to near the top edge and are separated from each other by a narrow gap formed by their prismatic outer surfaces. The wall sections (3) are each constructed with a head section and four leg sections which are bored to provide water circulation channels, the slots between the leg sections being narrow. The wall sections are assembled vertically on a base (4) and their adjacent edges (20) are shaped to form similar narrow slots between them. Water is circulated by means of manifolds (14,15) and an induction coil (6) generates high frequency current in the material to be heated.
