PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a scratch defect on an organic oriented film from being caused by a rubbing process and to improve the display quality of the screen by forming dummy black matrix layers on the non-effective regions of the substrate. SOLUTION: Red, green and blue color filter layers 2R, 2G and 2B are repeatedly formed on a transparent glass substrate 1 and black matrix layers 3 and 4 are formed over the gaps between the layers 2R, 2G and 2B as well as over surrounding cutting lines 8. Then, dummy black matrix layers are formed and a smooth layer 6 and a transparent electrode film 7 are formed over the layers 5. In this constitution, film thicknesses of the layers 3 to 5 are same and the layers 5 are formed outside the lines 8 to be cut after the assembling of a liquid crystal panel. Thus, the surface heights of the effective and non-effective regions on the substrate become almost equal, the entire surface is made flat and rubbing process is stably executed over the entire regions of the substrate. |
