SOLUTION: This tape recorder is provided with a control circuit 40 for controlling the running of a magnetic tape 1 and a transistor Q21 ON/OFF controlled by the control circuit 40. When the specified key operation is practiced, the magnetic tape 1 is run at a speed higher than the speed at the time of normal reproduction by the control circuit 40.
