Grain seed based animal feeds and veterinary pharmaceutical additives

Grain and oil seed products (based on rice, barley, wheat, maize, soya and canola) are used to produce enzymes including amylase, cellulase, lipase, pectinase, CMCase, beta -glycanase, proteinase and phytase. The enzymes are extracted using a buffer and 0.5 - 1.0 M MgCl2, to maintain the enzyme's high activity. the process comprises: (i) immersing the seeds in 1.5 - 3.0% sodium chloride solution after rejecting the inferior quality seeds; (ii) adjusting the moisture content of the seeds to 40-60% and incubating at 25 - 30 deg C for 24-36 hours at 90-95 % humidity, and (iii) drying in hot air at 25-80 deg C for 24-36 hours to adjust the pulverised seeds' moisture content to 9-12%, before packaging them. To accelerate the processing, the seeds may additionally be soaked for 4-12 hours in 0.05-10.0% polyoxymethylene sorbitan ester 80 (polysorbate 80) which acts as a non-ionic, hydrophilic emulsifier.
