PURPOSE:To decrease the installation number of dichroic filters by forming a spectroscopic optical system and a composition optical system in two-layered structure, and extending and integrating two dichroic filters of both the optical systems with both the layers. CONSTITUTION:The two dichroic filters 20 and 21 are extended from the 1st layer to the 2nd layer arranged in upper/lower relation and arranged in parallel or at right angles to each other, and the spectroscopic optical system 12 which separates the light from a light source 11 into plural color lights in order in the 1st layer by those dichroic filters and the composition optical system 16 which puts respective color images together are arranged; and liquid crystal display panels 13-15 which displays images corresponding to the respective colors on the 2nd layer and a projection lens 18 which is superposed on the light source are arranged, and reflecting means 22-24 which reflects the optical paths of the respective colors from the 1st layer to the 2nd layer are arranged. |
