<p>PURPOSE: To provide an inverter device capable of selectively operating in either mode of converting DC from a storage battery mounted on a vehicle to feed a multi-phase AC motor or charging the storage battery from an external energy supply source. CONSTITUTION: An inverter device contains inverter poles A', B', C' equal to the total number of the phase windings of a motor to be driven. To reconstitute the inverter device into a storage battery charging mode, a switching means is provided which changes a connection state between a part of circuit elements. Switches 54, 55 disconnect the AC terminals 50, 51 of two poles of the inverter terminals from the corresponding motor phase windings to connect them to a current supply means from an external energy supply source 52. Also, a switch 63 disconnects the positive DC rail 48 of the inverter from the positive terminal 19 of a storage battery. Furthermore, a current path 65 is established ranging from the AC terminal 66 of the third pole to the positive terminal 19 of the storage battery.</p> |
