摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a glass compsn. having the same melting and molding characteristics as soda lime-silica glass and reducing UV transmittance in a range of <= specified value by blending specified amts. of SiO2 , Na2 O, CaO, MgO, K2 O, SO3 , Fe2 O3 +FeO and MnO+MnO2 . SOLUTION: The glass compsn. contains, by weight, 69-74% SiO2 , 11-15% Na2 O, 9-13% CaO, 0.005-3.0% MgO, 0.005-1.0% K2 O, 0.1-0.5% SO3 , 0.3-1.0%, preferably 0.6% Fe2 O3 +FeO and 2.0-3.1%, preferably 2.2-2.8%, further preferably 2.4-2.6% MnO+MnO2 . The glass compsn. preferably has a higher UV absorption in the range of 290-390 nm than soda lime-flint glass and >=80% of the total ion content is preferably trivalent Fe ions. All of the original ionic components are preferably Fe2 O3 and FeO and the ratio of Fe<+2> to Fe<+3> is preferably 0.3-0.1.
