PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rock which can change the ambient gas into a gas with minus ions only by placing the rock in a room, and to always and quantitatively supply minus ions to a life space by applying a synthetic resin coating material prepared by compounding a tourmaline powder of a specified particle size and a dispersant on the surface of a rock. SOLUTION: A synthetic resin coating material prepared by compounding a tourmaline powder having 0.5 to 50μm particle size and a dispersant is applied to have about 10 to 100μm thickness on the surface of a rock to change the rock to have the effect to produce minus ions. Or, the coating material is applied with a primer to the surface of the rock. The compounding amt. of the tourmaline powder is preferably 1.0 to 6.0 to 1 of the resin component by weight in the synthetic resin coating material. The tourmaline is tourmaline mineral which produces charges on the crystal surface only by adding small temp. difference or pressure. The tourmaline has an oxide compd. form belonging to trigonal or hexagonal hemimorphic hemihedral groups, and its compsn. contains Fe2 O3 , CaO, Na2 O, K2 O, SiO2 , Al2 O3 , B2 O3 or the like.
