PURPOSE: A device for lapping a thin film magnetic head is provided to display a shape being lapped and changed gradually as a stop image during a lapping operation of a thin film magnetic head. CONSTITUTION: A fabrication drum(22) is rotatably installed at a base and supports a thin film magnetic head(300). A lapping unit laps the thin film magnetic head(300) when the fabrication drum(22) is rotated. A display unit displays an interference shape being displayed on a lapping surface lapping a contacted surface of the thin film magnetic head(300) being lapped by the lapping unit. The fabrication drum(22) is installed at a base for being rotated by a driving device. The lapping unit comprises a lapping tape(28) lapping the contacted surface of the thin film magnetic head(300), a supplying roll(24) supplying the lapping tape(28), a collection roll(25) collecting the lapping tape(28), a fixing bar(26) being installed in the base(20) for guiding a path of the lapping tape(28), and a guide bar(27) being installed at the base(20) for guiding a contacting/separating of the lapping tape(28) to the thin film magnetic head(300). The display unit comprises a strobo scope(400) being rotated with the fabrication drum(22), and displaying a shape of an interference displayed on a lapping surface of the thin film magnetic head(300) being lapped gradually as a stop image and a monitor(600) transmitting the shape of the interference photographed as the stopped image and displaying the image on a screen(60).
