PURPOSE: A directional coupler is provided to have high directivity by suitably cutting the band of slave lines and symmetrically forming grounded surfaces in between transmission lines in positions which the band is positioned. CONSTITUTION: A strip bottom board(20) on which a main line and slave lines are patterned has a grounded surfaces positioned in between the main line and the slave lines. A strip top board(30) forms a strip structure together with the strip bottom board(20). The two boards(20,30) are tightly closed by a body(10), a gasket(40) and a lid(50). The grounded surfaces are symmetrical in positions which the band of the slave lines is positioned for compensating the line characteristic impedance between a signal source and coupling lines, and are connected to the rear surface of the strip bottom board(20).
