The drive rollers are supported on springs at each end, enabling vertical movement. The drive system for moving items or packages includes a transport channel defined by a fixed upper plate, and a lower plate (106) which is vertically mobile but which serves as a guide. The movement of the articles is ensured by several series of rollers (12,14,16) distributed along the length of the transport channel. Each of the series of rollers may be independently vertically displaced. Each roller is supported at its two ends by a spring (122,222; 142,242; 162,262), the other end of which is fixed into the body of the machine. The supports for the mobile table (106) include vertical slots (116, 126, 136) enabling the table to move vertically as necessary.
