PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element with high safety, keeping an optimum luminous property under various circumstances with high reliability, by optimizing the use, the material, and the characteristics of a macromolecular film with antistatic property used as a base plate for the organic electroluminescent element. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element comprises at least a hole injecting anode 2, a luminous layer 4 with luminous area, an electron injecting cathode 5 on a transparent or semitransparent macromolecular film 6. The macromolecular film 6 is heat-treated and provided with a prescribed glass transition point, deflection temperature under load(DTUL), tensile strength, percent elongation, and oxygen index O.I (%O2).
