PURPOSE: An ink suction cap for an inkjet printer is provided to prevent a fixed sponge of a cap from being partially contacted to a head by suction pressure, as well as to fix the sponge of the cap easily. CONSTITUTION: A U-shaped spring(1) is coupled with a cap(50) to fix the outer circumference of a sponge(52) in the cap by pressing the outer circumference. If the spring is inserted into the cap, the spring is closely adhered to the cap by elasticity of itself. The sponge is fixed firmly for the outer circumference of the spring is pressed. The spring has slightly larger outside than an opening of the cap. To insert the spring into the cap, the spring is compressed and then inserted. To fix the spring more firmly, a groove for accepting the spring is formed in the cap. A worker inserts the sponge through the opening of the cap to assemble the sponge to the cap. If the sponge is inserted into the cap, the compressed spring is inserted into the cap. The spring is inserted until the spring is closely adhered to the sponge. If the spring is inserted and then expanded, the sponge is fixed in the cap firmly. The spring presses the almost entire outer circumference of the sponge. Thereby, the sponge is not contacted to a head by pressure during ink suction of the cap.
