PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-throughput transmission scheme and apparatus in a power-line carrier apparatus for communicating Ethernet data using a power line. SOLUTION: In the power-line carrier apparatuses 2, 3a, 3b, 3c and 3n (a master station and slave stations) for communicating Ethernet data using a power line 1, there are provided Ether frame assembling and disassembling circuits 17 for converting frame length data of Ethernet to a group of packets comprising a plurality of fixed packets shorter than the frame length, means for converting each packet as a unit to power-line carrier signals for transmission utilizing a power line 1, and means for retransmitting a packet experiencing a communication error upon occurrence of an communication error.
