PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive occupant detection device capable of certainly discriminating an adult and a child seat. SOLUTION: The occupant detection device 1 is provided with a seat back load sensor 3 arranged on a seat back 61 of the seat 6 having a seat body 60 and the seat back 61 and capable of detecting the load state applied to the seat back 61; seat body load sensors 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d arranged on the seat body 60 and capable of detecting the load state applied to the seat body 60; and an occupant detection ECU 4 having a determination part 41 for determining the occupant state on the seat 6 from both detection results of the seat back load sensor 3 and the seat body load sensors 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d and a communication part 42 for transmitting the determination result of the determination part 41 to an occupant protection device 9.
