PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of parts of a wire type steering system for a vehicle to simplify its structure, and to increase torque transmission efficiency in a torque transmission path from a steering wheel to steered wheels. SOLUTION: A steering system 10 for a vehicle is the wire type steering system, in which a pair of right and left knuckles 14A, 14B for steered wheels is operated by the steering wheel 11 to steer the steered wheels 15A, 15B through the knuckles. A screw part 23 connected with the steering wheel 11 and a slider 24 screwed into the screw part 23 constitute a screw mechanism 22 for converting a rotary motion of the steering wheel 11 into a linear motion. A center part 35 of a swing member which is connected with the slider 24 is swingably supported, one knuckle is connected with one end 37 of the swing member 31 with a first operating cable 13A, and the other knuckle is connected with the other end 38 of the swing member with a second operating cable 13B.
