<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead-acid battery having improved cycle life performance. <P>SOLUTION: This negative electrode collector for the lead-acid battery comprises a lattice part 3, an upper frame part 2, and a lug part 1. The upper frame part 2 and the lug part 1 each have a surface layer. The surface layer is formed of a Pb-Sn alloy with the mass ratio of Sn to the whole alloy being 10% or more, of a Pb-Sb alloy with the mass ratio of Sb to the whole alloy being 10% or more, of a Pb-Sn-Sb alloy with the total mass ratio of Sn and Sb to the whole alloy being 10% or more, or of Sn or Sb.
