<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having a good charge/discharge cycle lifetime. <P>SOLUTION: This nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is provided with a positive electrode 3 containing a positive electrode active material, a negative electrode 4, and a nonaqueous electrolyte. The positive electrode active material includes secondary grains formed by aggregation of lithium cobalt containing composite oxide primary grains. When a mean maximum grain size of the secondary grain is represented by L<SB>2max</SB>, a mean maximum grain size L<SB>1max</SB>of the primary grain is within a range 0.1×L<SB>2max</SB>≤L<SB>1max</SB>≤0.5×L<SB>2max</SB>, and sulfur exists on the surface of the positive electrode 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
