PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool, improving machining accuracy by heightening the support rigidity of a tool rest. SOLUTION: Seen from the Z-axis, the tool rest 5 includes: a support member 30 having a pair of right and left leg parts 30a, 30a and an upper beam part 30b connecting at least the upper end parts of both leg parts 30a; and a turret 31 where a plurality of tools are mounted in the outer peripheral part. The support member 30 is supported to move in the Z-axis direction between the first and second spindle rests 3, 4, and the turret 3 is supported to move in the X-axis by turret guide rails 33, 33 disposed on the fronts of the right and left leg parts 30a, 30b.
